Can’t Make a Choice

I run a nearly 100% choice art room.

Kids get to choose things like

what they work on,

where they sit,

what materials to use,

the size of their project and,

if they want to work alone or with a group.

Sometimes their teachers tell me,

“They can’t make choices”

Or

“They do better with more structure.”

When I hear these sorts of statements,

I can’t help but think,

“Then my art room is probably just what they need.”

Learning to make good choices

is a pretty critical skill.

They are only going to learn how to make good choices

if they are given the chance to practice.
