If the goal of art
education
is to reproduce
an image
that doesn’t
interest the maker
or
to create a work
in a specific genre
that doesn’t
interest the maker
or
requires
the use of a material
that doesn’t
interest the maker
then we
as art educators
not only
are disregarding
the maker,
we are not
teaching art.
Art
at it’s core
is a personal
statement,
a personal view
a personal
journey…
Hence,
art education’s
focus should
be on a person
not on a lesson.
Lessons need to
serve the person.
The person
should never be
a slave to
the lesson.
