This Might Not Work

This Might Not Work

In education, we require lesson plans.

Everything is detailed and written down.

The objective.

The activities.

The questions.

The answers.

We know exactly how the forty-five minutes will unfold because we did this same lesson last year, and the year before that. Sure, we’ve made some minor tweaks, but it’s the same thing.

What if we took a different approach?

This might not work.

It’s the admission that you are trying something different.

It’s the admission that it might be a little messy.

It’s the admission that you are in this together (both students and teacher).

It’s the admission that true learning requires uncertainty, not a script.

So think differently as you design those lesson plans.

This might not work.

It might not.

But it might be amazing anyway.
