The Code

“The code is more what you call guidelines than actual rules.”

-Barbossa (Pirates of the Caribbean)

Guidelines are great.

Sometimes, you have to operate at someone else’s pace or comfort level.

Sometimes, you have to meet a person where they are.

Sometimes, the written rule won’t apply to the situation you are in, and you’ll need to improvise.

So make sure you have a code. Be flexible in how you operate within those guidelines.

Be willing to throw the rules out the window on occasion.

But never stray too far from what you believe. Let your code guide you.
