It can be very easy to forget the big picture when you are mired in the day-to-day small details of the classroom and daily instruction. Paying attention to your overarching goals is important in ensuring that you stick to your plan and accomplish your goals.
Each day presents a unique opportunity to complete activities that lend to your big picture goal(s). For example, if your goal is to focus on helping students to develop grit and resilience, then there are specific activities that can be completed each day to help meet this goal. The key is remembering to focus on those activities each day.
So, there is really 1 important question that you need to ask each day:
Does this activity help me reach my goal?
If you can answer YES to the question, then you should continue on with the activity. If the answer is NO, then you may need to reconsider the activity.
Don’t get bogged down by the small details. Remember your big picture goal(s) by asking a simple question.
