It has been said that comparison is the thief of joy.
Whenever we compare two things, we inevitably need to project one as being better than the other.
For example, when implementing a new thing, we often compare it to what it was replacing.
How will this change what I used to do?
Why do I need to change what I was doing? It seemed to be successful.
We need to rethink comparison.
In many cases, the two things being compared are completely different, and require a unique perspective when viewing.
Instead of comparing the new thing to the old thing, try something else.
Try determining where the new thing will diverge.
What direction will the new thing take?
What will it allow you to do differently?
What can you now accomplish with a new direction?
Comparison is the thief of joy…
Enjoy change instead.
