The Advantage of Fallacies

Here’s the thing.

At some point or another, we are all wrong.

About something.

Maybe a lot of somethings.

And of course, we sometimes cling to our strongly held beliefs with a death grip.

We have carefully constructed our worldviews. But I’ll let you in on a big secret.

You just might be wrong.

It’s okay to be wrong. In fact, it’s not just okay. It’s essential.

We often don’t appreciate fallacies for what they really are.

Fallacies are chances to reevaluate our thinking, to recalibrate, and challenge our own assumptions.

Fallacies are not dead ends or wrong turns. They are opportunities to change our minds after discovering more valuable information.

In fact, it helps to be more informed.

It helps to consider nuance.

It helps to engage in dialogue and understand different perspectives.

It helps to question, to dig deeper, and to challenge the status quo.

It helps to take those unexpected detours – to consider the advantage of fallacies.

At some point or another, we are all wrong.

Never go about life being afraid to be wrong.

Instead, be afraid of staying stuck in your own thinking.
