I was recently leaving my building for a District meeting. On my way out of the building, a student stopped me and asked where I was going. I told him that I needed to go to an important meeting when he asked a key question:
Who’s going to take care of the school?
As I considered my response, I thought about all of the others who lead in the building. The others who take care of the school in different ways.
Instructional leaders.
Culture leaders.
Facility leaders.
Community leaders.
Student leaders.
Many step up regardless of role or title.
I realized that I was quite confident in those I was leaving behind for the afternoon. The school was in very capable hands.
So I shared my answer confidently with the student.
Everyone, of course. Everyone’s going to take care of the school.
