I want my children to grow up in a different world.
A world in which love wins.
For too long we have told our children that they can grow up to be anything they want to be.
But, unfortunately, we send them off into a world where they can be killed for who they are.
Our children can be anything they want to be, and need to be who they are.
Now is the time that we, as educators, need to work harder than ever to allow our students to live in a different world.
A world in which love wins.
Many will debate the ways in which we can combat terror and hate. Many will point fingers in order to blame.
The only way is love. The only way is to teach our children to serve others instead of hating others.
Earlier this year, I established Others as my #oneword for 2016. Today, the words ring more true:
Let’s teach our students to build relationships with others.
Let’s teach our students to be empathetic towards others.
Let’s teach our students to care for others.
Let’s teach our students that by learning to serve others they can live meaningful, purposeful lives.
Let’s make our students appreciate others for who they are as individuals.
Let’s help our students to be kind to others, no matter their differences.
I want my children to grow up in a different world.
A world in which love wins.
Today. Now.
Let love win.
