“So Matilda’s strong young mind continued to grow, nurtured by the voices of all those authors who had sent their books out into the world like ships on the sea. These books gave Matilda a hopeful and comforting message: You are not alone.”
Roald Dahl, Matilda
Like Matilda, none of us are alone. We can simply walk into the library and connect with the voices that were meant to be heard. If you are lucky like Matilda, you discovered those voices at an early age. Some of our students have not yet discovered the voices that make the most sense to them.
Our job is to keep trying to connect our students with the voices that make the most sense to them. This is done by continuing to introduce new books, new authors, and new ideas.
Let’s not let any of our students feel as if they are alone. Connect them with the right book. Connect them with the right voice.
