Waiting

Can’t wait for tomorrow when I get to exercise my patriotic duty as an American: Complaining about how long it’s taking to vote.

Stephen Colbert

As I write this morning, we wait.

It’s fitting that we wait.

I waited in line yesterday for just under three hours to vote.

Some waited longer than I did to exercise their right to vote.

If I had to, I would have waited longer.

As Mr. Colbert points out, we like to complain about how long it takes.

No matter how long it takes, we wait.

That’s the power of voting.

That’s the power of an engaged electorate.

Wait if you must.

But make sure that your voice is heard.
