It’s hard to know exactly what to say, but I know that I must stand up and say something. My privilege requires it.
We are broken. We’ve always been broken. So many are hurting right now. And have been. The system allows for many of us to live our lives, while causing others to fear for theirs.
And our leadership continues to fan the flames of division. For those with a voice, the message needs to be one of work. As a school leader, I need to continue to make sure that what I do each day is grounded in antiracist work.
It could be any one of our students who continue to be ignored by the system. I don’t want any of our students to live with that fear.
I will make sure that I support all of our students in exactly what they need. I will continue to learn, continue to understand, and continue to work.
