Better

I typically don’t look forward to the fanfare of New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day. For me, it is usually just another day. But this year, I’m feeling differently about it.

2019 was a particularly difficult year. Personal and professional struggles came and seemed like they wouldn’t go away. And then, December rolled around. I stumbled into winter break. I started to not feel well just a couple of days before break was set to begin.

And then, sickness hit hard. And I couldn’t fight back. I laid in bed for five days, unable to muster any energy.  I ate a couple of times when food was brought to me. I felt completely helpless, and it seemed to sum up my year.

Now that New Year’s Day is here, and we are prepared to return to school tomorrow, I am finally starting to feel better. Not completely 100%, but better.

As I approach the new year, I want it to be better.

So I’m going to work to make it better starting today.

So, thank you to all of you who inspire me and make me better on a daily basis.

I can’t wait to make this year better along with all of you.
