Hiring well as a school principal certainly helps in creating a culture of learning and innovation, and driving your vision for the school.
Putting exceptional teachers or those with great potential in front of students helps to create the best learning environment possible.
Many administrators have told me that hiring can make or break you as a Principal.
But I don’t think it ends with the hiring process.
I’ve often heard administrators say:
“I just hired the perfect person.”
or
“I just found the best teacher.”
But hiring well is only the first step. The key is constantly investing in employees.
Not only do those “perfect” and “best” need your ongoing support, they need to be challenged to continue growing as educators.
Constant investment.
Supporting.
Challenging.
Questioning.
Helping.
Answering.
Guiding.
Reinforcing.
Sustaining.
Motivating.
Giving.
Collaborating.
Hire well. Yes.
But invest better.
