  1. Stephanie Harvey and Anne Goudvis instilled in me a deep appreciation for these academic skills for reading nonfiction texts. When I was reviewing the Lincoln Center Education’s Capacities for Imaginative Learning I realized they were just as applicable to reading the visual arts. I think the real value in these parallels is that teachers who are familiar with “Strategies That Work” (and there are hundreds of thousands of them) should feel comfortable extending them to teaching art appreciation.
